Please learn more about Brett
Brett was diagnosed with leukemia during his senior year at Solon High School. Brett was very active with trapshooting and basketball during his high school years at Solon. He had an avid love for the outdoors and he especially loved to go hunting with his father. He loved to spend time out at "The Farm" and loved his family and friends.
He was an inspiration to all of us as we watched him during his brave fight. This run was organized by many people who loved Brett very much. We felt the need to have something fun to celebrate his memory. It is our hope that by joining us on race day you know you are helping keep Brett's memory alive and are helping to find a cure.
2019 Recipient- Mike Reeve
Mike Reeve is 62 years old and has been a resident of Solon for 35 years. He and Shelley went to high school in Tipton and this June, will have been married 40 years. They have 2 sons—Brian (34) and Zach (27)—both of whom graduated from Solon. His hobbies are golfing, playing in a 9-piece rock band (Olds and the Mobiles), walking, and reading. Mike retired from teaching after 33 years in 2014. He was recently the Recreation Coordinator for the City of Solon.
In 2008, Mike was diagnosed with chronic leukemia lymphoma. IV and prescription chemotherapy had kept it well under control until May of 2018, when he developed large B-cell lymphoma in his esophagus. That meant receiving his nourishment through nasal and gastrostomy feeding tubes for several weeks. An appendectomy and ileostomy in August meant the use of an ileostomy bag until it was recently reversed. Treatment, complications, and appointments have accumulated 134 days in the hospital during the last 10 months.
